The insanity

So by now the shock of last week has passed. All that is left is the stupidity and aggravation. Dan has called all the Vestry members. He has met with 3 of the 'uncertains', 3 said no need to meet, 1 has still not called him back but is a 'yes', and he has meetings set up with the last 4.

It seems that they all seem to think Dan is reserved. I think he can be occasionally when you first meet him. Most of the people he has talk to don't know him much. They all have an opinion of how he should do his job differently. It's getting really old. They seem to think he should be around on Sunday mornings. It completely baffles me!!! He is upstairs every Sunday morning making sure Sunday School runs smoothly. One Sunday when Bob had him teach the adult education there were issues because the Sunday School teachers couldn't talk to him. He is only one person. He doesn't have the luxury to smooze Vestry mornings...because HE'S WORKING!!! GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! This drives me so crazy.

We have also found out that what concerns many of the Vestry members is how many of the committee members answered one question. "Would you have this person as your rector?" Most answered 'No'. The reason for this is two fold 1) At 25 he is not suited to be rector to a church of 400 members having had seminary training, 2) Dan is not particularly well suited be a rector of a St. John's type church. He has said this many times himself. He is much more suited to work in an Urban Church or in chaplaincy. But a yes and no question does not allow for this distinction. But still why couldn't they have asked him about this last month?
