Update
Let see...Christmas was great. We flew to Houston on Christmas Day! It was not a problem at all and we got in before 10:00 am. Scott wasn't even there yet. The 4 hours of sleep was painful, but worth it. We met Destiny (Dani's and James' greyhound) and Nora (Scott's and Amanda's 2 month old golden mix puppy!). They were both great and it was nice to finally met them. Our pups were kenneled and missed horribly. We got over to see Dan's parents, and some friends from Austin. We came back after new years and got bumped from our flight. They gave us two free tickets to anywhere in the US, which was cool. It was a fantastic trip! Its going to be way too long before we're able to see everyone again.
Last weekend, St. John's had Father Al Durance come and speak for a "Center of Faith" weekend. Father Al was rector of St. John's in the 80's. He is now retired and travels as a visiting inspirational speaker to Episcopal Churches across the country. Many parishioners remember him; they've been at St. John's that long or longer! It was a good weekend.
This weekend Dan is going skiing with the Youth group Friday through Monday. They're going to Snowshoe, WV. Its suppose to be some of the best skiing in this region. They have a 10 hours van ride to get there. Ugh! I'm not going this year. I started my new job in November and my 90 days before taking time off is not up until March 1st. Christmas vacation was a special approval made during my interview and hiring. So I won't be skiing. =(
We have our diocese convention the first weekend in February . Dan is suppose to be a delegate this year. They vestry approves the delegates at their next meeting. All of his votes will be recorded. I don't know if this is a good thing or not...
Last night the discernment meeting had their second to last meeting with Dan. They meet again in two weeks for the final meeting. After which they have to write a report to be given to the Vestry at their Feb. meeting. They will vote on his Candidacy at the March meeting.
Let's hope that the rest of the spring calms down a bit after this month. It is wearing.
