Grad School

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving Dan finally came to bed at 3 am and woke me up asking what I thought of him going to grad school. I told him whatever just go to sleep. So my initial reaction was not very encouraging but he did have very had timing. We talked about it the next afternoon and it all sounded great to me. Monday he called the admissions department and last Tuesday he had an interview with them. They have accepted him for the spring semester. He bought his books and got a parking permit. They don't officially admit students until they have taken the first course and the entrance exam that goes with it (unless you place out of the course). So he will be officially enrolled this May but for we're assuming he will be. On Jan. 8, 2007 Dan will be starting at St. Mary's Seminary and University. He will be enrolled in their Master's of Arts in Theology run through their Ecummenical Center. It is an evening part-time MA program. It will take him about 3.5 years from now. (That is one year longer than his contract.) He has class this spring every Monday evening in Baltimore. We're both excited about him starting. He has wanted to go back to school for a very long time.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before but James is applyin for a MBA at the University of Texas for the fall. The program requires you to be working in the tech industry for 2 years prior to applying and maintain full-time employment while completing the program. He had his interview earlier in the month and was suppose to hear by Dec. 15th if he got in. Yesterday he got a letter saying they wanted a short essay submitted explaining his academic record before Jan. 18th. He's disappointed it isn't a 'yes' but glad it isn't a 'no'. So we wait...

If James does get in then come this fall 5 out of 6 of my parents children and children-in-law will be in some sort of schooling. Everyone except me. Hum....strange.
